SQUIDBOT

Inspection of Hydrocarbon Tanks

Squidbot is a AUV in development that will operate in confined areas providing inspection and non-destructive testing. It is self-contained and operates without umbilicals. The AUV shall be intrinsically safe for inspection of in-service (liquid filled) reservoirs in atex-rated environments. SquidBot is a submersible robot, able to avoid and overcome obstacles, and thus cover a large area of the inspected reservoir. The robot has instruments to perform the non-destructive internal tests, such as the measurement of wall thicknesses, and it has a cleaning tool to remove sludge when required by the chosen ndt inspection tools.
